A driver has blamed his sat nav for leaving his car teetering on the edge of a cliff after he followed its instructions

Robert Jones said he trusted his navigational system and continued to follow it when it told him the steep, narrow footpath he was driving on was a road.

Mr Jones, from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, now faces court action for driving without due care and attention.

His BMW nearly plunged down a 100ft cliff in Todmorden, West Yorkshire, on Sunday.

He was only stopped from falling after the vehicle rammed into a wire fence.

Police and rescue teams then spent nine hours recovering his car following the incident.

The 43-year-old, who works as a driver, said he relies on his sat nav for his job and described the incident as a "nightmare".

He told the Halifax Evening Courier: "It kept insisting the path was a road, even as it was getting narrower and steeper, so I just trusted it.

"You don't expect to be taken nearly over a cliff."

Mr Jones added: "I guess I'm just lucky the car didn't slip all the way over the edge."

The drama attracted crowds of onlookers in the picturesque market town that borders the Pennines.

One said: "It's like something off the Italian Job, but what a waste of police time.

"It's all well and good trusting your sat nav but how about trusting your eyes and when there's not a road in front of you, don't keep driving."

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Officers received a call at 11.18am on Sunday March 22 reporting that a BMW was hanging off the edge of a cliff off Bacup Road.

"The driver was a 43-year-old man from Doncaster. He has been summonsed to court for driving without due care and attention."

Aku semakin busy dengan workloads yang berlambak. Maklum le, dah masuk 2nd year. Result tak dapat2 lagi... Nasib baik sempat submit abstract untuk British Pharmaceutical Conference last week at the very last minute - 5 minit terakhir sebelum masa tamat! Perrrgghhh!

Supervisor aku tengah ambik long break since mak dia baru passed away, and mak mertua dia masuk hospital dan agak tenat. Sounds like a very difficult situation for his family, so kitorang pun terpaksa buat keje sendiri-sendiri. Terpaksa la survive, nak buat camne. Nasib baik our 'Group Mother' tak cuti, so bleh la nak consult if ada mende urgent matter.

Aku juga pertama kalinya sejak datang UK menjejakkan kaki ke carboot sale! MasyaAllah, patut la orang suke pegi sana... best gillllak! Tak sempat nak amik gambar sebab syok sangat round kat situ, jakun la katakan... :))

Oh yeah, aku juga dengan hebatnya berjaya buat TEMPE!!! Muaaaahhahahhha! Tempe beb tempe! Tempoh peram dia agak lama sikit dalam 2-3 hari, memandangkan weather sejuk. Lepas buat research sikit pasal tempe, terjumpa satu website yang suggest untuk balut tempe tu dengan 'HANDUK' pastu peram dalam almari (which instead aku guna kotak) to maintain the surrounding temperature between 25-30 deg... Handuk tu apa? Rasanya maksud dia TUALA kot.... ye ke? Hehhehe nanti kalau nak buat pulak, will attach step-by-step proses buat tempe -takde la susah sangat pun sebenarnya (kataku dengan nada separa riak)

Imagine parts of the inevitable cost and hassle.:

• Back & forth 6-7 trips. Lucky the new house is less than a mile away. Thanks to kawan-kawan Azam yang 'berjurus' tolong angkut barang ngan kete diorang

• Packing + unloading rerun. Imagine the things you had to disassemble to tiny pieces, and reconstruct again above all the mess. The biggest one we had is Azam's I-don't-know-what-kind gym. Kalu aku punye, confirm aku tinggal
  

• Unfinalised utility bills, taking at least a week to settle. Not to mention having to deal with the new supplier

dan banyak lagi yang aku malas nak membebel. Fuh, camne la agaknya time nak packing balik Msia nanti.... Tak larat+ berat + malas punye pasal, kitorang dengan separuh ikhlasnya kasi TV lama tu kat landlord lama walaupun asalnyal nak lelong kat ebay

Snow... yuhuuuu!

Aku tak pernah berangan nak main snow di Manchester, sebab menurut kawan-kawan yang dah lama tinggal kat sini, Manchester memang takde snow. Tapi waktu bangun subuh pagi tadi, aku rasa sejuk semacam. Tengok kat tingkap- terus menjerit "SNOW! YEA YEA!"

Sejuk tapi seronottttnye.... Sempat ponteng lab kejap untuk pegi park ngan labmate aku semata-mata nak amik gambar. Aku sempat ajar dia perkataan yang sesuai untuk golongan seperti kami- DARAT @ KAMPUNG muuuuaaahahahha (budak darat gelak besar puas hati!)

Supervisor aku bermurah hati kasi free 'short tutorial' cara-cara nak buat snowman, aku pun tersengih-sengih cam kerang busuk dengar cite dia kuikuikui
